A dialogue about arts and social change with practitioners plus practical demonstration of transformance approach

Business Tools for Social Change (10:30 - 12:30)

An energetic interactive Board Game.  What would you do, if you had to run a multi-national business? What choices would you make and where would you compromise?  Is doing the ‘right thing’ always contrary to making a profit, or can they co-exist and even benefit each other? Delegates found out if you’ve got what it takes!

Chain Reaction Interviews (12:30 - 13:30)

The Chain Interviews take place over lunch, with a variety of inspirational individuals from the UK and abroad acting first as interviewee and then as interviewer, to allow for changing perspective and the ongoing link from one individual to the next.  This session was coordinated by NCVO.  Participants to included Tina Michieli, CNVOS(Slovenia), Colin Parry, Founder, Foundation for Peace, Adam Nichols, Chief Executive, Changemakers, John Bird, Editor in Chief, The Big Issue, Niccolo Milanese, Co-Director, European Alternatives

The Global Oneness Project screened some of their inspirational short films over lunch in the purple space.  Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee, Founder and Director, was also available to talk about Global Oneness, and to answer any questions

World Café session:  How do you bring diverse groups together and get a result? This practical session will focus on ideas developing through rest of Chain Reaction

Personalising Social Change (13:30 - 15:00)

Being there – human beings being human, listening, comforting, supporting, mentoring – is the first line of support for the individual in need. The Council for Social Action has been looking at the power of one-to-one relationships in addressing pressing social issues of our day. This session was an opportunity to hear from inspiring case studies and explore how this model supports wide-reaching social change. 
Participants included:  David Robinson, Co-Founder of Community Links (chair), Fiona Rawes, Director, Heart of the City, Richard Hardie, Vice-Chair, UBS, Rob Owen, St Giles Trust, The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation, This session launched the Council on Social Action’s paper ‘Side by Side’

Hosted by Martyn Lewis.  Now in its 5th year, the Beacon Fellowship and guests celebrated and awarded 6 outstanding philanthropic individuals who have made an exceptional contribution of time, money or skills to a charitable cause. An overall winner was announced on the night received £30,000 to invest in an innovative way to a charity of their choice. Six short films were premiered, produced by the Media Trust, featuring each winner and their work with their charity
