On Thursday 12 November, Chain Reaction 2009 brought together social leaders, community activists, policy makers, business leaders, and young people from the UK and beyond to share learning and to generate new ideas for social change, locally and globally.

Over 400 people gathered in the heart of Canary Wharf for the event itself, with a futher 4,000 participating online on twitter, the Chain Reaction network, or watching our live stream (provided by Noonan Media). Participants in Chain Reaction 2009 included, business leaders, social entrepreneurs, bloggers and techies, students, community organisations from up and down the country, and a roll call of ministers including Liam Byrne MP, Chief Secretary for the Treasury and Angela Smith MP, Minister for the Third Sector.
Many of positive connections were made over the course of the day - and a huge number of commitments to action were made by attendees.
Over a quarter of those who attended Chain Reaction 2009 were under the age of 21 - and a group of these young people supported the event by providing all of the filming and reporting from the event. Supported by David Arkinsaras and the team from The Big V bus, the Social Reporting team created the following film of the day:
